BUSINESS ANGELS AND GOOD ANCESTORS NEEDED

Are you:-

  • an eco-conscious business or individual that understands the importance of building regenerative textile skills for the U.K.’s future workforce?
  • trying to transition away from fossil fuel derived fibres and dyes in your products but restricted by gaps in manufacturing and education as a result of offshoring?
  • keen to pay it forward by supporting the next generation of fashion and textile students?

Growing Slow Textiles is a profoundly simple yet deeply inspiring ‘seed to cloth’ initiation suitable for all age groups. Over the course of a growing season, students are joined by natural fibre and dye experts who share skills in gardening, processing, spinning, dyeing and weaving. The experience rewires how students think about fashion, planetary materials, human labour, consumption and LIFE!

From a handful of woad and flax seeds, students create their own small patch of indigo linen to mend their jeans with. In the process, they experience how 30K years of our ancestors clothed themselves before ecocide and waste consumerism. They reconnect with the beauty of the natural world and gain a fashion label worth wearing #homegrowncloth

What People Are Saying:

Working with flax has been such a revelation and so exciting! It felt really liberating and growing it in the garden gave a real connection with the past and heritage craft and the importance of maintaining those skills.

I have so enjoyed this year and it has changed my soul.

I don’t think I will see textiles the same way after this class. I do feel like they’re really precious the things we’ve created and it gives you a totally different way of looking at textiles. I really had a wonderful time and I never would have thought I could grow and process flax.
